NEW YORK - Colts teammates Peyton Manning, Edgerrin James and Marvin Harrison will start for the AFC in the Pro Bowl next month.
The Colts will have all of their NFL-high seven selections in the starting lineup, announced Saturday during halftime of the NFC wild-card game between Washington and Tampa Bay. Indianapolis (14-2) had a bye on the opening weekend of the playoffs.
The Chargers, who missed the playoffs, will have five starters: tight end Antonio Gates, fullback Lorenzo Neal, defensive lineman Jamal Williams, linebacker Shawne Merriman and special teams player Hanik Milligan.
In the NFC, NFL Most Valuable Player Shaun Alexander will start with plenty of familiar faces: Seattle teammates Matt Hasselbeck at quarterback, Mack Strong at fullback, tackle Walter Jones and guard Steve Hutchinson.
Defensive Player of the Year Brian Urlacher of the Chicago Bears also will start.
Each side features several players who got starting nods in their first Pro Bowl selection: Colts center Jeff Saturday, Williams and Merriman, and Indianapolis teammates Bob Sanders and Cato June on defense in the AFC. In the NFC, Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss, Strong, Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall and Bears defensive lineman Tommie Harris will start.
Merriman also was one of two rookies to make it to the game. The Pro Bowl is Feb. 12 in Honolulu.
