With less than a month left until National Signing Day on Feb. 1, Buchholz defensive tackle/tight end Travis Timmons still has a long way to go before making one of the biggest decisions of his young life.
As of Saturday, Timmons had not taken any of his official visits, but emphasized that he is not rushing to a decision.
"I'm going to make my official decision on Feb. 1," said Timmons, adding that he's been telling everyone that for quite some time.
Timmons said the five teams with the inside track are UCF, Georgia, Florida State, Miami and Illinois. He noted that playing time would play the biggest role in his decision, but said the quality of education would also be a factor.
"I want to get a good degree," said Timmons, adding that he knew there were no guarantees regarding a professional football career.
Because Florida has already received 27 oral commitments, including three from defensive tackles, Timmons said UF was no longer part of the process.
Although Timmons had some experience playing at wide receiver and linebacker for the Bobcats in his senior season, he said he preferred to play on the defensive line - either end or tackle - or at tight end.
"I feel comfortable at all those positions," Timmons said. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound senior finished the season with 10 receptions and 65 tackles.
