If we build it, they will come

In The Sun's issue on Dec. 23rd there was a story about how the bed tax would be spent. I think it would be a good idea to build a sports complex that could host many different events like minor league baseball, amateur football and similar events. I don't think the other suggestions make sense for this money. A sporting complex will bring more people and more money into Alachua County than a conservatory or cultural center.
I understand the money has to be used to promote tourism. Just think of the people who would come from all over the country. We could even have our own teams, and their fans would come see their events.
It would be like having extra Gator games every year, and everyone knows how much money those games bring into the community. I just think it is best for this community and the outlying areas to have more sporting events closer than Jacksonville or Tampa.
