Highway Patrol needs new office

I was wondering if there are any plans in the near future to build the Florida Highway Patrol a new Gainesville office. The current building, which they have been operating out of since the Eisenhower Administration, is an eyesore and an embarrassment.

It seems every time I venture into Gainesville there is a new courthouse or library or a defunct shopping center being refurbished for the Sheriff's Office. But the FHP continues to operate out of an ancient, dilapidated structure that is hardly larger than a double-wide trailer, without the amenities.

Perhaps the abandoned Winn-Dixie nearby could be acquired and redone like they did for the Sheriff's Office. These officers do a great job for us on our increasingly dangerous highways and they deserve a decent facility.
