Lately, President Bush and Vice President Cheney have accused their Iraq war critics of re-writing history. Remember when they were telling us how Iraq had supported al-Qaeda and was somehow responsible for 9-11? Their idea was that we had to fight them over there so we wouldn't have to fight here. But Iraq had nothing to do with al-Qaeda or 9-11 and Bush and Cheney knew it.
After "shock and awe," they said, everything would come up roses. Instead, on top of all the predicted inter-religious and tribal chaos, al-Qaeda now is in Iraq. So who is re-writing history?
Bush, Cheney, and their neo-con advisers bungled us into this war. Have they suddenly become wise enough to bring it to an honorable end? Seems we need a new team in Washington starting with Congressional elections in 2006 - if not also impeachment.
