Bill Clinton had an extramarital affair, and lied about it. George Bush illegally started a war, and lied about it. His illicit acts have done much more damage than Clinton's.
The Iraqi war has killed and maimed tens of thousands of American soldiers and innocent Iraqis, has cost the U.S. hundreds of billions of dollars, as well as its worldwide esteem, and has created a seemingly interminable quagmire that is breeding terrorists at an alarming rate. Further, it has spawned other apparent crimes in the Bush administration, e.g., the CIA leak, the secret CIA prisons and tortures therein, and the allowed profiteering by connected private companies.
These scandals have indeed disrupted the governing of the U.S. to the point that our stability has been undermined, making Bush not only an alleged criminal but perhaps the worst president in our history. Can we survive three more years of "staying the course?" Survive perhaps, but certainly not with prosperity. It's time to impeach George Bush.
Jerry G. Fossum,
