Golant accepted into medical school

  • Alexandra Golant, Gainesville, a sophomore at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., has been accepted into the humanities and medicine program at Mt. Sinai Medical School, New York.
    The daughter of Dora Kerner and Stephen Golant, Gainesville, she will enter medical school in fall 2007.

  • The following students made the fall semester president's/chancellor's/dean's list at their respective colleges and universities by making a 3.0 or higher GPA. They are:
    Kristen Danielle Armstrong, Gainesville, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. She is the daughter of Michelle Armstrong, Gainesville.
    John Charles Bovay Jr., Gainesville, a sophomore at Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Va. He is the son of Leslie B. Bovay and John C. Bovay, Gainesville.
    Ashleigh Elaine Dechow, Gainesville, a freshman at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, N.C.
    Jennifer Furman, a fourth-year student at Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Ga. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Furman. A graphic design student, Furman has made the list each semester of her college life.
    Samantha Jean Gilman, Gainesville, Elon University, Elon, N.C. She is the daughter of Elizabeth and Edward Gilman, Gainesville.
    Jennifer Helseth, Gainesville, University of Florida. She is a senior and the daughter of Karen and Jack Helseth, Gainesville.
    Heather Lynn Hutchison, Gainesville, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brian K. Hutchison, Gainesville.
    Valerie Amy Livingston, Gainesville, a sophomore at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, N.C.

    Keeler presenting paper at conference

  • Gail Keeler, a first-year graduate student in the mass communications program, will present her paper titled "Gastric bypass procedure: Media framing through four phases."
    It will be presented during the annual international conference of the Association for Marketing and Health Care Research being held Wednesday through Friday.
    Other students and professors who will present at the conference include Dr. Debbie Treise, Paula Rausch, Kristin Meyer, Holly Meade, Kim Taylor and Diane Hickey.
