Fear and smear: Politics the Bush way

Tell Americans that the sky is falling, and it's the fault of people who don't believe it's falling. Call those people un-American and unpatriotic and tell the people that you are the only one that can keep the sky from falling.
Fear and smear: the politics of Bush. Fortunately, most Republicans and no Democrats fall for the lies involved in that type of politics.
Bush Inc. is hard at work getting its greedy paws on the many dollars involved in Social Security. Bush Inc. wants to put some or all of the Social Security funds into the stock market so it can grow and we can all retire with as much money as the Bushes have.
Sounds good. But who is to operate this great investment fund? What are the operating costs? What stocks will be bought? Hundreds more questions need to be answered, and I'll bet none of them will be answered as long as fear and smear continue to work so well.
Frighten people by telling them that the Social Security system is running out of money and they may not get their check (some older people are thinking next month). The people who oppose letting Bush "fix" it are going to cause the system to run out of money tomorrow, so we had better let George Jr. do his thing.
Apply the KISS theory to the problem: Keep it simple, stupid. Social Security contribution stops at $90,000. Why not just let the ceiling rise to cover the likes of Bill Gates, congressmen, senators, CEOs, superstar athletes and others making more than that amount? That will fall in line with the Bush "no new tax" policy. No more fear, no need to smear.
