Florida swimmers beat 'Bama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Florida men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Alabama by scores of 132-105 and 131-106 respectively Saturday afternoon at the Alabama Aquatic Center.

With their victories, the Gator men improved to 9-1 overall, including a 3-1 mark in the Southeastern Conference, while the Florida women moved their record to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the SEC.

The second-ranked Gator men and the third-ranked women return to action Friday as they host Virginia at the O'Connell Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

  • TRACK AND FIELD: The fourth-ranked women's track and field team won the Clemson Invitational in Clemson, S.C., while the No. 4 men's squad had three individuals post provisionals with the 4x400-meter relay clocking one of the fastest times in the nation this year at the Wes Kittley 6-Way in Lubbock, Texas, as the teams competed in meets Saturday afternoon.

  • WOMEN'S TENNIS: The match between the No. 2-ranked Gators and Baylor scheduled for Saturday afternoon was canceled due to inclement weather. The match will not be rescheduled.
