If it isn't broken ...

The Sun has published several intelligent letters about Social Security. I am surprised that the biggest problem has not been mentioned. Our Congress cannot keep its hands out of the funds.
In fact, by chance I turned on C-SPAN and watched a vigorous debate on a bill to make it impossible for Congress to take funds from Social Security funding. The bill failed to get out of committee and therefore died. They did not want the cookie jar closed.
Simply stated: Congress, keep your hands off the program and it will be fine. The Bush "fix" is a disaster in the making, not a solution, as advertised.
