A Starke woman was charged with stabbing a pregnant woman multiple times with a knife Thursday afternoon in Monteocha in Alachua County, according to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.
Nicole Danielle Shaw, 23, of 4977 NE 30th Blvd. in Starke, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to a deputy's report.
At 12:18 p.m., Shaw went to a house in Monteocha at 2216 NE 181st Place, where she stabbed Markesha Martina Mulberry in the upper torso three times, Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Jim Troiano said.
Mulberry, 21, who said she was three to four weeks pregnant, was taken to Shands at the University of Florida and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Troiano said he did not know the type of knife used or the depth of the stab wounds.
Shaw drove away in a purple Pontiac Grand Prix with her two children and a witness. The Sheriff's Office alerted Union County authorities that the car was last seen headed north on State Road 231.
Less than an hour later, Union County sheriff's Sgt. Raymond Shuford said he spotted the car in Lake Butler and arrested Shaw.
A Union County deputy's report said witnesses believe Shaw was angry with Mulberry for an alleged affair she was having with the father of Shaw's two children.
