Be leery of Social Security jargon

The Sun's front-page article (Jan. 10), "Social Security battle begins," should be a warning of great concern, and citizens need to alert themselves so they can recognize the signals coming from the White House.
The White House group plans to hammer home the message that "Social Security will collapse as baby boomers enter retirement." Also, a political strategist proclaims, "The reality needs to be seared into the public consciousness." These proclamations are similar to the military psychological operations jargon used to persuade, confuse or alter the behavior of the opposition.
Since the Social Security Trust Fund hasn't been operated as originally intended, with funds withdrawn for general government purposes, the solutions to the current status must include the return of the funds improperly withdrawn.
For a realistic account of this fiasco, read "The Looting of Social Security," by Allen W. Smith, Ph.D.
