No victims in the military

In reference to the Jan. 3 front-page article about Dr. Thomas Beaver's time served in the Middle East: Beaver is quoted as saying, "I feel fortunate to help take care of these kids who didn't ask to be put in this situation." How insulting!
Does he think that those younger than the age of 40 don't know what they are doing when they freely volunteer to serve their country? Does he think that someone went around and abducted these young men and women against their will?
I joined the military at the age of 19 and I knew I wasn't joining a social club. Those serving on active duty in our military are not children and they are not victims.
