It is shame that the City Commission is giving credence to a complaint against the city police for doing the job they were hired to do, including that of enforcing the law at the Fifth Avenue Arts Festival. Rather, they should focus their criticism on NKwanda Jah and her blithe acceptance of unlawful activities in the festival. The commissioners harboring questions about the conduct of the police, and the consideration for sensitivity training resulting from this incident is a negative reflection on the commissioners, not on the police.
The commissioners need to bolster their stature in the whole community, not just the Cultural Arts Coalition.
