Bush no ally to military

Bob Conrey's letter (July 21) that expressed "disappointment and anger" at Joe Little's hypothetical letter from a crippled veteran are typical of the cognitive dissonance of Bush-Cheney supporters. The Bush-Cheney administration is attempting to cut over $1 billion from veterans hospitals. The Army Times recently had an editorial in disgust of the administration's attempts to reduce monthly combat pay in Iraq by $150 per month and family hardship separation assistance by $100 per month.

These Bush scumbags have the audacity to report that Kerry voted against body armor for the troops when Kerry was voting against these cuts until they were taken out of the bill. This administration has the Marines fighting in Iraq out of the back of unarmored flatbed trucks and regular Army units fighting without their heavy armor. All because of their idiotic assumption that a Christian country can invade a sovereign Muslim country, kill over 30,000 of its citizens, steal its oil for Halliburton; and they will "toast their saviors." Only a pathetic moron could believe such bloody Bush-Cheney propaganda.

Conrey and other Bush supporters should take the training wheels off their brains, stop watching the barrage of lies from the fascist Fox News Network, and find out why the rest of the world hates this administration. They ought to ask themselves when we had Osama bin Laden surrounded in Tora Bora, why this administration called off the bombardment and left it up to a scraggly bunch of Afghanistan militia to capture him. They let him escape so that they could fight the "real oil war" these thugs planned for Iraq long before Sept. 11, 2001.

Our founding fathers that wrote the Constitution would lynch both Cheney and Bush for destroying this country financially and morally to enrich their corporate cronies. If you are not outraged at this fascist, corrupt Republican administration then you are simply not paying attention. You are totally unaware of the massive number of servicemen not re-enlisting or retiring because of this administration. Bush-Cheney supporters cannot handle the truth, which is ugly and repulsive. Reality is an impossible exchange for them because the truth defines an administration that is evil beyond their comprehension. Anyone who votes for Bush in the next election will have the blood of further troop deaths and mutilations on their hands.

I volunteered for service in 1969 but would encourage anyone to escape the draft that this Bush-Cheney fascist mob will bring back if they steal the election again in 2004.

Tom Lane,

Gainesville
