David Huertas, a 6-foot-4-and-a-half shooting guard from Arlington Country Day School in Jacksonville, made a verbal commitment to the Gators on Thursday.

Huertas is the seventh-ranked overall prospect in the state according to FloridaHoops.net, and a top 25 national prospect, according to Rivals.com. He scored 40 points in the finals of last week's Florida high school team camp.

Huertas, 16, is considered a strong, pure shooter who has the ability to create his shot off the dribble.

Huertas chose Florida over Louisville, Miami, Arizona, Kansas and St. John's. Florida and Louisville were his final two choices.
