Bush is a disappointment

In response to the Jan. 27 letter titled "Proud of our president": How can we be proud of President George W. Bush? He has put the lives of our armed forces in danger and killed countless innocent Iraqi citizens.
President Bush continues to call the war against Iraq part of the war on terror although there are no facts that lead a reasonable person to believe that Saddam Hussein had anything to do with 9-11 or had any other connection with terrorist organizations. Bush stated during his push to get Congress to vote to authorize war against Iraq that he would go to the United Nations and prove his case that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. However, even as U.N. inspectors were on the ground, Bush sent Americans to die in the Iraq desert.
Now after months of war, even the man President Bush sent to find weapons of mass destruction has resigned saying there are none to be found. How many lives would have been saved if Bush had kept his word and exhausted all avenues through the U.N. inspectors?
Preemption does not make us safer, it only isolates us from the rest of the world and creates new enemies who continue to hate the U.S.A.
