The Standing Room Only Players at Oak Hall School recently had a successful run at the District Thespian Festival held in Jacksonville.
Seniors Katie Boyle and Allen Wiggins and Gabi Aguirre qualified to take their monologues to the state competition, while senior Matt Marraffino and sophomore Brittany Kanter's comedic scene also qualified them for competition at state.
Both groups will travel to Tampa this spring. This is Boyle's third invitation to state in the monologue division.
"I was impressed with the depth of emotion these students had to tap into in order to portray the roles convincingly," said Brooke Taylor, their drama instructor.
At the Florida State Thespian Festival, students can participate in workshops with some of the most prestigious teachers and vocal coaches in the state.
They also can watch other students perform scenes, monologues, solos, duets and more.
There also are main-stage performances by the top performing arts schools each night of the festival.
