Global warming is a reality

John Graham (Jan. 24), like George W. Bush, seems to be in denial in the matter of global warming. He either thinks it's not happening or it does not matter. By pointing out the record cold in New York at the time that Al Gore and Jessica Matthews were speaking on the threat of global warming, Graham attempts to ridicule them.
Graham must not have read the Science Times (New York Times, Jan. 13). It is ironic that drilling for Arctic oil, Bush and Cheney's dream venture, may not come to pass because, during the past three decades, the time that the top layer of the tundra is frozen has shrunk from 200 days to about 100, and the oil companies need at least 100 days so that this sensitive eco-system won't be destroyed by running over it with heavy equipment.
