Lafayette guard Land lights up scoreboard

  • BOYS BASKETBALL Cortez Gent, Chiefland - In three games this week, the junior guard had 55 points, 15 assists and 14 steals.
    Nick Waiters, Columbia - In a win against Union County on Thursday, the senior forward had 11 points, 14 rebounds, six blocks and a steal.
    McLeod Neale, Oak Hall - The sophomore center hit 54 percent of his shots from the field during the week. He scored 27 points and grabbed 29 rebounds.
    Patrell Clayton, Suwannee - In his team's win against Taylor County, Clayton scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds. In the victory against Baker County, he had 14 points and nine rebounds. Clayton showed that he was a hard-nosed player, taking three charges against Taylor and two against Baker.
    C.J. Spiller, Union County - Spiller, a sophomore guard, helped lead the Tigers to a 2-1 week. He scored 34 points during the three-game span and added 13 rebounds, seven steals and seven assists.
  • GIRLS BASKETBALL Fran Carter, Chiefland - In two games during the week, the senior forward scored 31 points and grabbed 19 rebounds.
    Chandra Shine, Lafayette - In a three-game span, the junior shooting guard had 40 points, 15 rebounds, six assists and four steals.
    Kittery Neale, Oak Hall - The junior forward, averaging about 31 minutes a game, had 49 points and 28 rebounds in three games. She made 15-of-16 free throw shots.
    Whitney Edmunds, Oak Hall - In three games, the senior guard/forward transfer from Cedar Key, scored 27 points and snagged 22 rebounds. She went 8-10 from the free-throw line and 3-5 from the 3-point arc.
    Alyssa Atwood, Westwood Hills - Atwood, a sophomore guard, scored 37 points, grabbed 43 rebounds and added 12 assists and 14 steals in four games.
    Ashton Atwood, Westwood Hills - The seventh-grade guard recorded 28 points, 33 rebounds, 14 steals, nine assists and one block in four games this week.
  • GIRLS SOCCER Liz Theurer, Eastside - The sophomore scored six goals and added an assist in a 2-0-1 week against three district opponents. Eastside earned the number oneNo. 1 seed and a bye for the District 4-4A tournament.
    Kate Grantham, Gainesville - The senior midfielder and team captain scored four goals in a match vs. North Marion and two goals in a contest against Lake Weir.
    Sara Poncher, Keystone Heights - The junior forward had five goals and two assists in two games during the week.
    Colleen Ugliano, Oak Hall - In the 8-0 win against Providence, the eighth-grade midfielder had a goal and an assist. In Oak Hall's second 8-0 victory against Bradford, Ugliano scored three goals and assisted on one.
