The Eastside girls soccer team finished out the year with a quality road victory over P.K Yonge, knocking off the Blue Wave 3-2 on Thursday.
The Rams scored the first of five total goals scored in the first half. Eastside junior Mary Ashley McCollough scored the first of her two goals in the 20th minute. Four minutes later, P.K. Yonge's Caitlyn Rugger tied the score at 1-1 on an unassisted goal.
The Blue Wave, who were without leading scorer Sara Rugger and played the first half outmanned 11-10, took the lead just moments later when Nadine Bernier booted one in over the Eastside goalie.
The Rams responded rapidly with a pair of goals from senior Hisako Miyabayashi and McCollough for a 3-2 lead.
The one goal lead proved to be enough for the Rams to improve their record to 9-10-2 on the year heading into districts.
"It's good to score three goals on a good team," Eastside coach Matt Walker said. "We had been looking for our offense and we found it tonight. Mary Ashley has been our go-to girl all year."
P.K. Yonge ended its season 12-3-1 and begins district play Monday when it faces Hawthorne in Newberry.
"We did not have a lot of experience out there," said P.K. Yonge coach Kevin Fabulitch, who was without four starters for some of this season. "We gave a good effort, we just lost composure on some things, it was a tough game."
