BRANFORD - Cecil "Chuck" Blanton died Friday at Shands at AGH after an extended illness. He was 71.
Mr. Blanton was born in Valdosta, Ga., and came here from Texas in 1986. He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot. He was awarded the Bronze Star, two Distinguished Flying Crosses and five Air Medals. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include his wife, Garnette Blanton of Branford; daughters Monika Price of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Michele Garland of Lubbock, Texas; a son, Dustin Blanton of Branford; a stepdaughter, Kim Slaughter of Sweeney, Texas; a stepson, Greg Wasson of Angleton, Texas; sisters Ruth Keene of Mathis, Texas, Evelyn Belisle of Lima, Ohio, Margaret Whittaker of Cocoa Beach and Joyce Hollingsworth of Gainesville; brothers Quindel Blanton of Winter Haven, Bethel Blanton of Gainesville, Robert Blanton of Dallas, and Ray Blanton of Germany; and 11 grandchildren.

Johnnie Paul Dalton
TRENTON - Johnnie Paul Dalton died Thursday. He was 61.
Mr. Dalton was born in Portersdale, Ga., and first moved to Trenton in 1960. He was a retired probation officer.
He was a graduate of the University of Central Florida and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Hason Shrine Temple, both in Georgia, and First Baptist Church of Chiefland.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene J. Dalton of Trenton; a son, Johnnie Russ Dalton of Trenton; his mother, Maudell W. Dalton of Kennesaw, Ga.; a brother, Jerry Michael Dalton of Trenton; sisters Jeanette Layton of Kennesaw, Ga., Jean Setters of Dalton, Ga., and Joyce Walker of Tifton, Ga.

Anita A. Gahwiler
Anita A. Gahwiler of Gainesville died Friday at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. She was 78.
Mrs. Gahwiler was born in Farmer City, Ill., and came here from Palm Beach Gardens in 1997. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Gahwiler.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Johnston of Gainesville; a sister, Evelyn Lamprecht of Deltona; and two grandchil- dren.

Lillian E. Raye
Lillian E. Raye of Gainesville died Thursday at her home. She was 97.
Mrs. Raye was born in Pinemount and came here in 1924. She was co-owner and operator of a Dixie Queen neighborhood grocery store, and a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Thomas Raye, and a son, Ira Alton Raye.
Survivors include a brother, John Clifton Revels of New Orleans, La.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

HAMPTON - Edna Garnet Disney Studer died Thursday at IHS of Orange Park after a brief illness. She was 96.
Mrs. Studer was born in Pall Mall, Tenn., and came to Hampton in 1946 from Jacksonville. She was a retired retail buyer and the former owner of a Phil's Restaurant in Hampton and a variety store. She attended First Christian Church of Hampton.
Survivors include grandchildren Denny Frogge, Cheryl Davis, Gregory Page and Van Page; and four great-grand-children.

FANNING SPRINGS - Ricky Wright died Wednesday. He was 17.
Mr. Wright was born in Winter Haven and moved to Fanning Springs from Fort Myers in 1991. He was a student at Chiefland High School.
He was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the varsity football and basketball teams, and the J.V. basketball team. He won the Jay MacMatthews Award and maintained a 3.0-plus GPA.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, music and his truck. He was a member of Lighthouse Word Church.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Rick and Teresa Wright of Fanning Springs; his mother and stepfather, Suma and Chad Atkinson of Fort Myers; sisters Jessica Wright and Arianna Sanchez, both of Fort Myers; a brother, Jerry Sanchez of Fort Myers; and grandparents James and Karen Wright of Winter Haven, Beulah Henderson of Punta Gorda and Ralphel Rivera of Puerto Rico.
