Mary Alice Bartholomew

  • ALACHUA - Mary Alice Bartholomew died Saturday. She was 75.
    Mrs. Bartholomew was born in Saginaw, Mich., and moved to Alachua from Butler, Pa., in 1978.
    She was the owner of Lolly Barr Kennel for 40 years and formerly owned the Anchor Lodge in Gainesville. She enjoyed creating porcelain dolls.
    Mrs. Bartholomew was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Blair Bartholomew, and a son, Clifford B. Bartholomew.
    Survivors include daughter Melissa A. Osche of Butler; sons David B. Bartholomew of Houston, Texas, Jonathan B. Bartholomew of Sarasota, and Andrew B. Bartholomew and Christopher B. Bartholomew, both of Gainesville; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

    John Fletcher Welch

  • LAKE BUTLER - John Fletcher Welch died Sunday in his home following a sudden illness.
    He was 64. Mr. Welch was a lifelong resident of Lake Butler, where he raised poultry, cattle and horses on his farm. He was also a supervisor at Gainesville Regional Utilities for 41 years and was a member of First Christian Church of Lake Butler.
    Mr. Welch was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Welch.
    Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jone F. Welch; son Johnny W. Welch of Lake Butler; daughters Cordellia "Corkey" McDowell and Janet Welch Waters, both of Lake Butler; brother Donald Welch of Brooker; and eight grandchildren.

    Ora B. Bourgoin

  • Ora B. Bourgoin of Gainesville died Friday. She was 78.
    She was born in Palmetto and moved here from Plainville, Conn., 23 years ago.
    She worked as a switchboard operator and attended Archer Church of Nazarene and Oakdale Baptist Church.
    Survivors, all of Gainesville, include her daughter, Tish A. Smith; brother Grover Barry; sister Sarah Shaw; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    Nellie McNatt

  • MICANOPY - Nellie McNatt died Friday at Palm Garden in Gainesville.
    She was 88. Mrs. McNatt was born in Tennessee and moved to Micanopy from Miami in 1969. She was a homemaker and a member of the Micanopy congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter McNatt.
    Survivors include son Joseph McNatt of Micanopy; and a granddaughter, Stacey McNatt of Micanopy.
    Arrangements by Worth Cremation Service of Florida.
