JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Jaguars have ended discussions with Phil Savage about becoming the team's personnel director, a team spokesman said Saturday.
Team owner Wayne Weaver met with Savage on Friday and Saturday, but the two sides could not reach an agreement, Jaguars spokesman Dan Edwards said. Edwards said Weaver did not specify what prevented Weaver from hiring Savage, director of college scouting for the Baltimore Ravens.
Savage and new Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio were with the Ravens from 1999 to 2001, and Savage strongly endorsed Del Rio for the Jacksonville job during an interview with Weaver a week ago.
Weaver also has spoken with three other candidates about becoming the team's personnel director, including Baltimore's pro personnel director, James Harris, Buffalo's football operations director, Tom Modrak, and Jacksonville's director of player personnel for pro and college scouting, Rick Reiprish.
Weaver is still considering all three candidates, Edwards said.
