It's not too late to protect yourself from the flu, which peaks each year between late December and March, health department officials advise.
Flu vaccine is still available, and will provide protection within two or three weeks after vaccination. Flu shots can be obtained for $10 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at any Alachua County Health Department location. They are free if you have Medicare Part B without HMO coverage; just bring your Medicare card.
Shots are available at:
  • Health Department main office, 224 SE 24th St., (352) 334-7900.
  • Alachua Clinic, 12630 NW 151st Place, Alachua, (386) 462-2542.
