Columnist is on the mark

If there is someone in the Bush administration with only slightly more than half a brain, she should pay attention to George Will's column (Jan. 9).
He is absolutely on the mark in pointing to the necessity of making dividends tax deductible to the corporation so as to put them on the same plane as deductible interest on corporate debt.
Since those who receive dividends would still pay income tax on them at their own rates, the fairness issue is significantly muted.
Let's hope that not all of the policy makers in the current administration are so carried away in the euphoria of their overwhelming electoral "mandate" to pay attention to common sense, especially when it comes from someone such as George Will who possesses such impeccable conservative credentials.
