I wish to thank The Gainesville Sun for the article (Dec. 15) regarding Pride Community Center of North Central Florida. It was very informative and, in most respects, accurate.
However, the article made no mention of our inclusion of transgendered persons. We presently have a transgendered support group, which meets on an occasional basis, and the center is committed to providing various resources to transgendered persons as well as lesbians, gays and bisexuals.
I would also like to emphasize that our community center is inclusive of "straight" people. We were formed to provide a safe space and resources for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community in North Central Florida, but we are dedicated to including all persons in this area who support our common goals. We provide a meeting space for progressive organizations and enthusiastically welcome straight people as members.
If anyone is interested in obtaining more information about the center or becoming a member, please visit our Web site at www.pridecommunity center.org or give us a call at 352-377-8915.
