Wedding, engagement, birth and anniversary announcements

Diana Hollis and Bobby James were married Nov. 30 in Church of God by Faith. Officiating was Bishop James E. McKnight.

The bride, daughter of Sallie M. Hollis, Gainesville, was attended by Dianne Freeney, Cynthia Ashford, Norma Curry, Noel Hollis, Amy Howard, Nadine Howard, Katenna James, Faye McKnight, Kellie Howard, and Whitney Harrington.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt James of High Springs, was attended by Emory Fuller, Joseph Smith, Mervin Freeney, Derrick James, Frederick Jones, Darien Lawson, Ralph McNish, Rev. Lowell James, Keith Curry, and Delvin Rahynes.

The bride is employed by Hollis Hair Salon.

The bridegroom is employed by the U.S. Postal Service.

After a wedding trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple will live in Gainesville.


  • Jerome & Elaine Schwartz

    Jerome M. & Elaine B. Schwartz of Gainesville celebrated their 50th anniversary with a luncheon at Steak & Ale with family and friends. They were married Dec. 14, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio.

    They have three daughters, two sons and seven grandchildren.

    The Schwartz family moved to Melbourne from Dayton in 1956, and then to Gainesville in 1970.

    Mr. Schwartz is a World War II veteran and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps and then in the Air Force Reserves during the Korean War.

    He graduated from West Virginia University, Morgantown, and was employed as a project engineer at Wright-Patterson AFB until moving to RCA Service Co. in Melbourne in 1956.

    In 1970, he came to the University of Florida as the executive officer of an interdisciplinary center until his retirement in 1989.

    He volunteers with the Friends of the Library and other organizations.

    Mrs. Schwartz attended the University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Art Institute.

    She was a third-grade teacher in Melbourne.

    In 1973, she graduated from Santa Fe Community College's human services program, and was a teacher at Howard Bishop Middle School and J. J. Finley Elementary School until her retirement in 1979.


  • Shannon Cline - Andy Shanely

    Tim and Ann Cline, Washington, D.C., announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Cline, to Andy Shanely, son of Lynne Baran, Glendale, Calif., and Sam Shanely, Oceanside, Calif.

    The bride-elect graduated from Astronaut High School, Titusville; University of Florida; and Indiana University, Bloomington.

    The bridegroom-elect graduated from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly Tech High School; California State University - Fullerton; Arizona State University, Flagstaff; and the University of Florida.

    The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Kay Ann Cline.

    The wedding is planned for March 22.

  • Charlotte Cribbs - Richard Harrold

    Barbara and William Waldo, Fort White, announce the engagement of their daughter, Charlotte Cribbs, to Richard Harrold, son of Mary Moon-Bush, Fanning Springs.

    The bride-elect graduated from Santa Fe High School.

    The bridegroom-elect graduated from Santa Fe High School.

    The bridegroom-elect is also the son of the late Robert Harrold.

    The wedding is planned for September.

  • Erika Francis - James Tucker

    Dee Gene and Elaine Francis, Gainesville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Erika Francis, to James Tucker, son of James and Carol Tucker, Jacksonville.

    The bride-elect graduated from P.K. Yonge High School; University of Florida; and Georgia State University, Atlanta.

    The bridegroom-elect graduated from The Bolles School, Jacksonville, and Georgia Southern University, Statesboro.

    The wedding is planned for Feb. 1.


  • Chloe Marie Burgett: daughter of Tom and Christine Burgett of Gainesville, on Dec. 12 in North Florida Regional Medical Center. She weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 20 inches. Grandparents are Mike and Sally Woodard of Tallahassee and Rick and Sharon Zich of Coral Springs.

  • Calei Alexys McLaughlin: daughter of Joshua and Sabrina McLaughlin of Gainesville, on Dec. 23 in Shands at UF. She weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 19 inches. Grandparents are Bill and Denise Thomason of High Springs and Tommy and Janet Buss of Bell.

  • Celia Francis Belle Laraway: daughter of Susan and Jeffrey Laraway of Melrose, on Dec. 22 in Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala. She weighed 5 pounds 15 ounces and measured 18 inches. Grandparents are Joseph and Chris Lafond of Sparr, and Beverly Laraway of Bradenton.

  • Camille Leanne Jackson: daughter of Billy and Wanda Jackson of Starke, on Dec. 24 in North Florida Regional Medical Center. She weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 20 inches. Grandparents are Tom Jackson and Wanda Clifford of Starke, and Kenneth and Carolyn Mueller, of Starke.

  • Jason Richard Jarzynka: son of Jason and Stephanie Jarzynka of Gainesville, on Oct. 22 in North Florida Regional Medical Center. He weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 20 inches. Grandparents are Don and Wanda Jarzynka of Bonnaire, Ga., and John and Linda Roundtree of Mt. Home, Idaho.

  • Kendon Jaymes Wood: son of James Wood III and Macaele Corbin of Old Town, on Dec. 2 in North Florida Regional Medical Center. He weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and measured 21 inches. Grandparents are Paul and Judy Corbin of Old Town, Lisa and Gary Hogan of Chiefland, and Danny and Gale Wood of Old Town.

  • Braden Davis Lanciani: son of Chris and Laura Lanciani of Alice Springs, Australia, on Oct. 3 in Alice Springs Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds and measured 20 inches. Grandparents are Grace and Carmine Lanciani of Gainesville and Pat and Rob Stevens of Plano, Texas.


    The Sun runs 50th anniversaries and above in the Sunday edition. There is no form. Please include the complete names of the couple (including her maiden name); the date, year and place of marriage; if not local, when they moved to this area. Also include the number of children, grandchildren, etc.; the work history of each and retirement dates; also hobbies. A daytime phone number must be included or the information will not run.

    Photos should be sharp, clear portraits, showing to the waistline with the couple close together. Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope if you wish your photo to be returned. (374-5038)


    Engagements must be turned into The Sun office no later than 30 calendar days before the wedding date to ensure running; earlier is preferred.

    Weddings, counting the wedding date as day one, must be in The Sun office no later than the 30th calendar day to run at no charge. There is a late charge of $25 on day 31 through day 90. Announcements arriving after day 90 will not run.

    Photographs must arrive with the form. If the form and photo arrive separately, the latest date of arrival will count as the arrival date of both items.
