Why it's must-see TV: This is the "Battle for the Golden Boot" in Little Rock, Ark. This intense rivalry has been going on since 1901 and usually always gets a primetime billing. This year, both the Tigers and Razorbacks enter the season as the favorites to have the best chance of dethroning Alabama in the SEC West. The Tigers are powered by a speedy, intimidating defense, while Arkansas is equipped with arguably the best quarterback in the SEC in junior Ryan Mallett. The winner of this game will probably take second in the West, but if business is taken care of earlier in the season, this game could send someone to Atlanta.
All-time record: LSU leads the series 34-19-2
Recent history: A missed field goal by Arkansas' Alex Tejada in overtime gave LSU a 33-30 win in Baton Rouge in 2009. Arkansas scored 10 in the fourth quarter, including a 24-yard touchdown pass from Casey Dick on fourth-and-1 with 22 seconds remaining, to win 31-30 in 2008. It was a triple-overtime thriller in 2007 as the Razorbacks sent former head coach Houston Nutt out with a 50-48 stunner over the eventual national champs. The Tigers won four straight before 2007.
Quick hit: The Golden Boot Trophy was introduced into the rivalry in 1996. The 24-karat, four-foot tall and nearly 200-pound trophy, which is awarded to the winner each year, is considered the heaviest trophy awarded in college football and is valued at $10,000.
