Less than a week after his arrest on two counts of misdemeanor battery, redshirt freshman defensive tackle Gary Brown has been dismissed from the Florida football team.
"Gary Brown has had a history during his time here of not meeting a set of expectations we have for the student-athletes in our football program and therefore he is no long part of our program," UF spokesman Steve McClain said.
Brown was arrested early Sunday morning for allegedly slapping a woman and scratching another at a party. He faces two counts of misdemeanor battery.
According to the police report, Brown used an open hand to strike the face of a woman trying to kick people out of a party. Another woman who intervened was scratched by Brown as he attempted to slap her arms away, according to the reports.
Brown was suspended from all team activities the day after his arrest.
Brown, a five-star recruit coming out of high school, redshirted this past season and had been expected to compete for playing time this spring.
