Chevon Walker comes into a great situation as one of only two running backs to verbally commit early to the 2006 University of Florida recruiting class. The running back position for the Gators in 2005 was one of great scrutiny, having shuffled between three main players all season; DeShawn Wynn, Markus Manson and Kestahn Moore.
Projected as: RB
Position Rank: 34
Year: Class of 2006
High School: Riverdale HS
(Fort Myers, FL)
Walker, the Riverdale High School (Fort Myers, Fla.) standout, is a strong all-purpose back who will compete for playing time early in his career. At 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, Walker has good size. He is not a speed back; running a 4.62-second 40-yard dash, but can accelerate past defenders in the open field.
He is a productive back, rushing for more than 1,500 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior in 2004. He is also a strong receiver and can be used as a threat out of the backfield or in the slot.
