Though elite bulk and strength are usually attributed to great defensive linemen, speed is what can set apart the good from the great. That is what defensive end Jermaine Cunningham will bring to the University of Florida.
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 210 40: 4.7
Projected as: DE
Position Rank: 13
Year: Class of 2006
High School: Stephenson HS
(Stone Mountain, GA)
At 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, the Stephenson High School (Stone Mountain, Ga.) product is relatively thin for defensive line, but he can add bulk. His 4.65-second 40-yard dash is something that cannot be taught to linemen. This speed will help him beat offensive tackles off the snap faster than maybe any current Gator lineman can.
In 2005, Cunningham recorded eye-popping statistics. He made 145 total tackles, 45 for loss and an incredible 26 sacks. He also forced one fumble.
Rivals.com ranks Cunningham as the fourth best weak side defensive end in the nation and the eighth best prospect in Georgia.
