New Florida coach Urban Meyer completed his first Gator coaching staff Thursday, announcing the hiring of North Carolina State associate head coach and wide receivers coach John "Doc" Holliday.

"We feel good about the addition of Coach Holliday to our staff," Meyer said in a statement released by UF. "He brings a wealth of experience and a tremendous knowledge of the game."

Meyer did not say what Holliday's coaching responsibility will be, but Holliday coached three of the top eight wide receivers in North Carolina State history - Koren Robinson, Bryan Peterson and Jerricho Cotchery. Holliday also has strong recruiting connections in south Florida.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to work with Coach Meyer and the staff at the University of Florida," Holliday said. "I'm thrilled to have the chance to be a part of the Gator program and I'm looking forward to coming to Gainesville."

Before going to North Carolina State five years ago, Holliday spent 21 years as an assistant at West Virginia, his alma mater.
