Best Win: 72-49 at home to Utah State on Jan. 2.

Worst Loss: 58-85 at New Mexico on Jan. 5.

The Skinny: The Wolf Pack made the Sweet 16 last year and had a shot at advancing before losing a lead against the team that captured everyone’s hearts, Loyola Chicago. Nevada improved its defense this year and added Portland transfer Jazz Johnson. Of concern is the Achilles injury that caused Jordan Carolina (17.3 ppg, 9.6 rpg) to miss the Mountain West tournament semifinal loss to San Diego State. The 58 wins over the past two seasons is the best in Nevada history. All five starters are transfers.

  1. It would be an amazing ending to a roller coaster season ‘IF’ this 2018-’19 Florida Men’s Basketball team can get past Nevada, then upset the other ”Big Blue Nation,” Michigan and make it to the ”Sweet 16.” Then, Lord willing, play a Buffalo or a Texas Tech (probably) in the round of 16. But if U.F. Men’s Basketball only makes it past Nevada, well, I’d be pleased with how this story ended. But I don’t know that I would want to ride on this roller coaster again any time soon. Still, the ending is definitely this Gator Basketball team’s to write.
    Go Gators! Beat Nevada!

  2. This is a very good 7-seed draw for UF. The other 7-seeds, other than Wofford, although Wofford has played more than Nevada, have played double digit NCAA tourney caliber games. Nevada has played 3, and 1 of them was against a bubble team, and the highest seed they played was an 8. The majority of UF’s opponents the last 6 weeks have been 1-5 caliber seeds, plus many in the non-con schedule. They’re not gonna be used to playing a team that matches up w/ them talent wise.

  3. Interesting game. I happened to find a short-term investment site that had Florida at 50-1 to win it all (this was before the SEC tournament). I thought this was a high value investment for a Ben Franklin. It will depend on which Gator team shows up for the tournament. Either way, this has been one heck of a roller coaster season for the Gators. Just check all the double-digit leads the Gators have blown. Then look at the games they lost when holding a lead with under 10 minutes to go. Oh My!
