Florida’s Junior Day, featuring many top prospects from the 2020 class, paid dividends before the day was done.

Johnnie Brown, a 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive tackle out of Middleton High in Tampa, committed to the Gators on Saturday.

Ranked the No. 7 defensive tackle in the 2020 class by the 247Sports composite ranking, Brown was recruited to UF by tight ends coach Larry Scott, who is assigned to recruit the Tampa area for the Gators.

With Brown’s commitment, the Gators have eight commits in the 2020 class, which is ranked No. 3 by 247Sports.

  1. This class is shaping up rather nicely and the best thing about it is that 7 of the 8 commits are instate kids. The lone out-of-stater is from next door Georgia.

Remember the Clemson example. The Gators don’t need a #1 class. Just classes that end up in the top 5 every year. The 2021 class already has 4 commits and ranks #1.

    Go Gators!!!

  2. Mullen doesn’t need to sign the highest rated class, he just needs to stop out of state programs from taking the top 6 rated players in the state and more than half of the top 20. If he stops UGA and BAMA from gutting the state, it will go a long way towards winning the SEC. Heck, Penn State took 2 of the top 20(same as UF right now) and they’ve never done well in Florida. BAMA did better recruiting florida than they did recruiting Alabama. They weren’t even panhandle recruits.

  3. CDM said his QB’ s have to be willing runners. Our recruits have to be willing learners with talent. Willing talented players+coaches with knowledge and ability= something special. The recruits are figuring it out. A few talented juniors returning add leadership from within+ new talent+coaches with knowledge = something special with a little maturity. Depth isn’t the issues it was in the past so the areas of turnover should come along faster.
