Florida’s 2019 class landed a huge commitment Tuesday morning from a Peach State prospect who took an official visit to UF over the weekend.

Jaelin Humphries, a 6-foot-4, 305-pound defensive tackle out of Lawrenceville (Ga.), committed to the Gators over offers from Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, LSU and others.

Ranked a four-star recruit and the No. 12 defensive tackle prospect in the 2019 class by 247Sports, Humphries revealed his commitment to Rivals’ Chad Simmons. Humphries left his official visit Monday morning after arriving Saturday, telling Simmons he committed to UF coach Dan Mullen on Sunday.

With Humphries’ commitment, which is non-binding until he signs a letter of intent, the Gators have nine in the 2019 class.

    • Great idea DV! I bet our coaching staff hasn’t though of your idea yet! They only have like, 150 years combined coaching experience. I suggest calling the offices of UF Football and asking to talk to Coach Mullen. Tell the person answering the phone you are a fan with some ideas on how to improve the recruiting. I’m sure Coach Mullen will be on the phone with you in less than a minute. I’m almost positive Coach will listen attentively as long as you are willing to advise him on recruiting. The fan base thanks you in advance!

  1. DV. The state of Georgia is loaded with top recruits this year. Mullen is clearly targeting those recruits in Georgia that are not clearly leaning or committed to Georgia, Auburn, and/or Alabama (the schools who land most of the recruits from the state of Georgia). But please check the 247 recruiting page/site. The Florida coaches are actively recruiting at least 20 of the top recruits in the state of Florida. Some, however, do not currently have the academics required for acceptance into UF, including a highly ranked WR that recently committed to FSU (and still has tons of work to do to even get into FSU).

  2. All I can post about this commitment is: IT”S ABOUT TIME! Time for the gates to open on a top five class. Go Gators. Go Mullen.

  3. He is a big nasty. That’s the kind of lineman we need. The SEC is a line of scrimmage league so if you don’t have good offensive and defensive lines, it is difficult to be successful. Looks like Coach Mullen and his team are already starting to reap the benefits of their hard work, tireless recruiting and dedication to returning Florida football to the glory days! Keep up the good work.

  4. Know what? I’m pleased with the way recruiting is going. Don’t want to get to the top this soon. I’d rather work our way up slowly. This kid from Ga. will stay. If we were to pull a top 5 class this early, a fourth would decomm. Chances are, if we go slowly, and get what we want, they will be more secure with us. December is a long way off, folks. We have several top players on the board looking strongly at us. I believe we get the DB from Cali, RB from IMG, and DE from Ft. Myers. Plenty of time. Go slowly.

  5. Good job recruiting by Coach Mullen and his team.
Humphries will get coached up by the staff and be a top D Lineman in the SEC.
I hope he signs his letter of commitment and starts in the Spring.
I have a hunch that he will make an immediate and major contribution to the D Line and provide depth
to a D that will already be top tier.

  6. WELCOME to the O&B Jaelin! This young man may be first off the bus. That’s what a DT is supposed to look like. Glad he may have the ability to go inside & outside. Go Gators!
