Three observations following Florida’s 73-64 win Wednesday over LSU at the O’Connell Center:

— Florida did a nice job attacking the rim against LSU, outscoring the Tigers 34-22 in the paint. The Gators also got to the free throw line 20 times, though converting just 13 (65 percent). Keith Stone (15 points) and Kevarrius Hayes (9 points) combined for 24 points, though the Gators still missed some bunnies inside, including a close putback by Hayes, a close shot in the lane by freshman guard Mike Okauru and a missed dunk by Jalen Hudson, all in the first half. “We’ve got to convert those,” Florida coach Mike White said.

— Florida hasn’t broken out of its 3-point shooting slump, but it was good to see guard Egor Koulechov get on a little flurry in the second half. The Gators went 2 of 8 from 3-point range in the first half and 4 of 10 from beyond the arc in the second half to finish 6 of 18 (33.3 percent) for the game. The Gators are shooting just 29.4 percent from 3-point range (20-68) over the last two games.

— White did a good job using his bench more in the first half to help keep starters fresh down the stretch. Okauru logged a productive 17 minutes with nine points and a steal. Okauru and junior guard KeVaughn Allen will need to continue to spell senior point guard Chris Chiozza, who logged 35 minutes.

      • Boyfriend is simply projecting his disappointment in the low ceiling of Coach Leonard Hamilton onto our bright, young Gator coach.

With someone as “weird” as boyfriend, it’s makes sense once the mental health lens is focused.

Call it Gator Derangement Syndrome driven by a profound sense of Seminole inadequacy.

      • I’ve been on various Gator message boards since the Internets was invented. Boyfriend may be one of the weirdest I’ve encountered. Truly bizarre character. Classic Seminole Inadequacy Syndrome driving a lot of weird behavior.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Tallahassee. He would fit right in.

  1. This is the sad thing about this kind of forum. Mike White in his third year, and has got the Gators on track, BF you are so lame and cluelees. Did you forget White got the team to the eilte 8? Wite shows so much promise, and I actually think more than Billy D, so many times Billy would let games get away in the fading moments of games.
If anyone believes this guy, then this is why this kind of forum can be dangerous. He is the kind of guy who will be calling for Mullens head if and when they lose two games next year.
Mike White cannot coach dumb turnovers and panicked shot selection. Sheesh get behind the guy, take the pains and just believe greatr things are on the horizon……

  2. You Michelle White lackeys are pretty comical. By season’s end, Michelle will have lost about a dozen games as a favorite! As a FAVORITE, not underdog, FAVORITE! What do you not understand about that word? These guys go from Final Four possibility to not even making the tournament. My God, get real! From here on out, they’ll only be underdogs at Tennessee and they will be lucky if they finish 2-5. Thirteen losses for Miss White. Oh, why not compare her to Ohio State’s new coach or Butler’s new coach, for examples? Those two are real coaches. Make no mistake, White is a “fake” coach and is the worst in the SEC — absolutely at the bottom of the league. It might be next season before you realize this, but at that time the AD will have to act.
Stricklin will give Michelle a mulligan this season. Next season, she will be out!
