Florida dropped three spots in the latest Associated Press college basketball poll released Monday. The Gators are ranked No. 23.

The Gators (15-6) entered last week at No. 20 before going 1-1 at home, losing to South Carolina and beating Baylor.

Florida plays at Georgia on Tuesday before playing host to Alabama on Saturday.

Three other SEC teams are ranked: No. 11 Auburn, No. 18 Tennessee and No. 21 Kentucky.

Meanwhile, Villanova remained at No. 1 for the fourth straight week, receiving 47 first-place votes after a pair of victories last week. Virginia is No. 2, Purdue had one first-place vote and remained at No. 3, Duke did not fall back despite its loss to Virginia and Michigan State moved up a spot to round out the top 5.

    • has more to do with the eye test and schedule. UK’s best — really their only good win was against Louisville, while they had lost some games coming into WV. WV has beaten Virginia, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State, and while they have also lost a few conference road games recently prior to losing to Kentucky, they still pass the eye test better than the gang that couldn’t shoot straight at Kentucky.

  1. Still concerned with consistency. Don’t think there’s a team in the NCAA with more room between the ceiling and the floor than Florida.. Any news on when Egbunu is returning to lineup? I don’t expect more than five fouls a game at first, but it’s about time to start working him into the rotation to have him ready for March. A couple more weeks, and it might be worth considering to ask for a medical redshirt.

    • I suspect we have some intelligent University of Florida Basketball/AA minds working with the Big Guy and his family on these very issues. I doubt message boards will have much of an impact.
