In a move that has been anticipated since late in the season, Florida junior defensive tackle Taven Bryan is giving up his senior season to enter the NFL draft. He announced his decision on Twitter on Monday afternoon.

Here’s what he Tweeted:

“Coach Mullen coming back to Gainesville made this decision very difficult because I have the highest regard for him and I believe he is going to bring greatness to #GatorNation.

“However, after a lot of thought and consideration with my family and coaches, I have decided to forgo my senior year and enter the 2018 #NFLDraft.”

Some are projecting that Bryan could possibly be among the first 10 players drafted. He recorded 40 tackles (six for loss) and four sacks this past season. He received second-team All-SEC honors by the Associated Press.

Bryan is the second UF junior to declare for the draft, joining wide receiver Antonio Callaway.

  1. Best Of Luck to you, I know you would have gotten even better with another year, you had flashes of greatness, but who can argue with top 10 in the draft? For a top 10 player how did he make it only on to the 2nd team all SEC? I hope that top 10 isnt someone blowing smoke his way and this costs him alot of money!

  2. A fool would take him in the first 300 players. Nice little career kid, hope you had fun, should have been a wrestler or something. A case of looks like Tarzan, plays (every other play) like Jane. He’s the third best DL on a mediocre unit.

This is the part I hate about College football.

  3. These kids never learn. It seems every junior that comes out early, especially at Florida, is expected to be a high draft pick. We should have won the National Championship many times with the highly rated juniors that went early. Unfortunately, they don’t consider what NFL teams are looking for, their needs at a position, who else might be entering the draft, etc. You can be great but there si always somebody better. Good luck to him.

  4. I don’t think Bryan is top 10 based on productivity, but he is super strong and energetic, so first round or two is a possibility.
As for Callaway, I don’t consider him the second Gator to declare, he’s off the team, as he should be. He will be one of those guys on MNF who introduces himself as “Antonio Callaway, B.T. Washington(or whatever) H.S.”.

  5. Good luck to the kid. He has the elite gifts but hopefully learned about what not having a good captain can do and will never allow anything like the south Carolina game to happen again anywhere. Allowing 2 easy touchdowns up the middle to a wil muschamp team is going to cost him some money imo.
