Florida added a third top national recruit to its 2018 class Friday.

Keyontae Johnson, a four-star small forward prospect from Norfolk, Va., announced on Friday night that he’s signing with the Gators before his game at Oak Hill (Va.) Academy.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Johnson chose Florida over Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and Texas Tech. Rivals.com ranks Johnson as the 115th best player in the Class of 2018.

“Keyontae is a tremendous athletic wing who can score off the catch or bounce and make plays above the rim,” Oak Hill coach Steve Smith told veteran college basketball/recruiting writer Adam Zagoria. “He’s extremely long for 6-5. He is an excellent defender and really rebounds his position. It’s hard to find a better athlete or competitor than Keyontae.”

Johnson will join five-star point guard Andrew Nembhard and four-star shooting guard Noah Locke as the third incoming freshman in UF’s 2018 class.

  1. Indeed!!😂 That football squad got me over analyzing every move we make on the hard court but I’ll tell ya what- Mike White is getting it done. Just wish we had more flexibility with roster spots since there are a good bit of attainable prospects remaining.

    • I agree. Just strange how this has shook out. Seemed Simmons was UF bound & then boom, both guards verbal & sorta steer the 5* guy away. Don’t get me wrong I’m beyond happy with White and his recruiting but a real elite guy would be even better every now and then.

  2. Can’t believe it but I’m starting to feel like a Wildcat (UK) fan. Can’t wait for football season to end and Ball (round ball) season to start! Coach White is doing a great job and we need to make sure we RETAIN HIS SERVICES!
