You can smell the start of the SEC season even if we have to wait until the second weekend of college football season to have an SEC game.
But it’s coming and if you try real hard you can hear the SEC on CBS theme song (you don’t have it as a ringtone?).
You never know for sure which games will change the landscape of the conference races in the West and the East.
But we have a feeling these 10 games will shape the outcome:
1. Alabama at Auburn, Nov. 25.
Can you imagine the hype if these two teams are both unbeaten heading into the Iron Bowl? It’s not unthinkable.
2. Florida-Georgia, Oct. 28.
There seems to be two sides when it comes to media opinions about who will win the East. So the chances are pretty good it comes down to the cocktail party.
3. Auburn at LSU, Oct. 14.
Remember last year’s game that basically got Les Miles fired? If someone besides Alabama is going to win the West, it likely will be the winner of this game.
4. LSU at Alabama, Nov. 4.
As usual, both teams are coming off a bye, but we’re not sure if this qualifies to be at the top as it usually is. Still, it should be a doozy, especially if LSU figures a way to score against the Tide.
5. Georgia at Tennessee, Sept. 30.
Nobody expects a finish like last year’s, but we can hope.
6. Alabama at Texas A&M, Oct. 7.
This is the kind of game A&M might just win, especially because it comes early enough.
7. Georgia at Auburn, Nov. 11.
This might be a game that is played again in Atlanta, but the loser has a tough battle to get there.
8. Tennessee at Florida, Sept. 16.
The Vols snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Gators last year. Florida would love to start a new streak.
9. Auburn at Arkansas, Oct. 21.
This is a dangerous game for the Tigers coming a week after its trip to Baton Rouge.
10. Tennessee at Alabama, Oct. 21.
The fifth of five straight conference weekends for the Tide. Does anyone smell an upset that would rock both divisions?
