NEW YORK — Florida athletes Kelly Barnhill, Alex McMurtry and Belinda Woolcock are among the 12 finalists for the Collegiate Women’s Sports Award on Monday night.
Barnhill is the 2017 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, McMurtry is the NCAA all-around gymnastics champion with an NCAA semifinal record total (39.8125) and Woolcock was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2017 NCAA Tennis Championships and helped Florida to its seventh NCAA team title.
Other winners in their sports are: Stanford’s Katie Ledecky (swimming), Washington’s Kelsey Plub (basketball), Stanford’s Inky Ajanaku (volleyball); West Virginia’s Kadeisha Buchanan (soccer); Delaware’s Greta Nauck (field hockey); Missouri’s Karissa Schweizer (cross country); Maryland’s Zoe Stukenberg (lacrosse); Arizona State’s Monica Vaughn (golf) and Georgia’s Kendell Williams (heptathlon).
The 12 athletes are eligible for Collegiate Female Athlete of the Year honors. The Honda Cup will be awarded to the winner on Monday in Los Angeles.
